Andrea Gledhill

Committee member Andrea Gledhill has been with NEAS for four years, lending her skills as a curator at the Armidale Art Gallery as well as the Get Framed Armidale Gallery.

After many years working in Advertising and book publishing (William Collins Publishers and Angus & Robertson Publishing) as a designer, author, copywriter and illustrator, in 1984 she decided to follow her heart and study Fine Arts majoring in painting at the Queensland College of Art.

A Grad Dip in Visual Art and English Education from Charles Darwin University, children and survival, followed.

Since arriving in Armidale in 1998, Andrea has taught Art and English at The Armidale School, been Curator and Program Manager at NERAM (2005 – 2008) and retired after 12 much loved years as the Head of Austin College, UNE in 2020.

After a 30 year hiatus, Andrea was able to stand at an easel and ‘live to paint’ again.

“I paint my life surrounded by too many ‘objets’ and furry beasts on my 1 acre of paradise in Tilbuster. It was the New England light and landscape that drew me to Armidale and now I’m free to live and work amongst it.”

A selection of Andrea’s paintings.
