Lilian Wissink
I am intrigued by the creative process and enjoy discovering ways to express my love of the everyday in still life paintings and the beauty of nature in landscape paintings. More recently eco–printing through nature has become part of my artistic journey.
My aim is to invite the viewer to pause and reflect on what they see and gain a deeper connection to what is around them. As a retired Psychologist I understand the value of becoming more present in the here and now and appreciating quiet reflection. My intention is to convey a sense of tranquillity, nostalgia and gratitude for the simple, as well as the awe-inspiring aspects of life.
My fascination with the creative process began over twenty-five years ago and led to writing The Creative Seed: How to Enrich Your Life through Creativity. I am a firm believer that we are all creative and that all we need is the inspiration to explore and be willing to play and practice in our creative domain. More recently, I have delved into the art of eco–dyeing and printing, captivated by the natural alchemy of botanics and natural dyes to produce unique one-of-a-kind prints on paper and fabric. These reflect my love of the natural world and the serendipity of experimenting and playing. If you purchase one of my eco prints on fabric, such as a silk scarf, it can be washed in a gentle soap by hand or machine.
