    Eve Kennedy-Jackson

Eve has been an artist and involved in art for over 35 years, both in Sydney and the Upper Hunter and now Armidale.

She gained experience at various workshops with known artists in different mediums, and taught Art and Folk Art at Baulkham Hills Leisure Learning and at the Hills Evening College.

During this time Eve judged the Folk-Art section at the Castle Hill Show, demonstrated Folk-Art at the Royal Easter Show and exhibited at the Balmain Watchhouse Gallery as well as local exhibitions close to home.

Moving to the Upper Hunter with her husband Murray, Eve helped run a cattle farm. Yet upon arriving she was asked to judge at the Merriwa Show and once again started teaching at Singleton.

This is when Eve decided to go to TAFE to complete a Fine Arts degree. Ever the artist and teacher Eve started up three more classes one in Merriwa, Denman and Muswellbrook.

These were very successful and ran for 15 years. While in the Upper Hunter Eve exhibited at Muswellbrook Gallery, Scone, Merriwa and Denman, winning many awards at the Merriwa Show and Muswellbrook Gallery.

One feather in her belt at this time was being the Exhibition Co-ordinator for the inaugural “Denman Wine and Food Festival” gallery.

Her husband was employed at the Rosemount Estate and the vineyard scenes were popular choices to paint in the area. Eve’s paintings were hung and exhibited at the ‘Cellar Door Restaurant’ and were often purchased by visitors on their travels through the Upper Hunter wineries.

Eve opened a successful Craft Shop and Art Gallery in Denman. Known as The Pink Rose Gallery and in an old heritage shop, circa 1816, which ran for 8 years.

Eve sold out to move to the Blue Mountains where she joined The Society of Mountain Artists and was introduced to painting the beautiful Blue Mountains! And guess what; she ran an art class in Lawson for 5 years.

Finally and forever, Eve and Murray moved to Armidale and upon arriving Eve joined the Armidale Art Gallery.

Eve has been a volunteer helping to staff the gallery ever since. It is not surprising to know that Eve runs a COLOUR CLASS at the gallery and loves to paint the scenery, flowers and waterfalls of the New England region.
