Exhibition Dates: Sat 12 July – Sat 9 August
Official Opening: Saturday 12 July @ 2pm
A Biennial Exhibition that encourages the use of old & used materials into artistic creations. It is about Art that seeks to transform consumer society’s discarded waste such as paper, cardboard, wood, glass, fabric, plastic, metal, rubber and so on into a work of art. The concept, therefore, goes beyond the conventional recycling of materials by creating objects that exceed the economic, cultural and social value of the original product.
Recycled art provides a new purpose for objects that have satisfied their original use. Using these objects in artwork conserves resources and reduces the amount going to landfill while challenging the way we think about waste.
For textile oriented creators there will be a fashion component as well with a prize for best dressed up-cycled fashion or wearable art on the opening day.
The Opening at 2pm on Sat 12 July will include Morris Dancing, a musical interlude, Prize giving and a Trashy Fashion award.
Come along to the Opening or anytime during the month in which this will be on display.
Everyone is welcome.
