This drawing class is for those who want to learn to draw, or who are keen to improve and learn more but perhaps lack confidence and are seeking hands-on support and direction.
We will work through each session over the nine week semester in a step by step process, which will give you very good drawing basics.
Drawing is the basis for all art pursuits and is a learned skill. Anyone can learn to draw if they have the dedication and are prepared to put in the time to practice.
We Will Explore
- Learning to observe and develop your artistic eye
- Learn techniques of light direction, shading and pencil craft
- Learn to develop your right brain and play in the drawing zone with confidence
- Learn about proportions and perspective and how to achieve them
- Consolidate basic skills which can fast-track your entry into painting and other mediums.
Course Tutor
Annie Minton is a retired graphic designer and web developer who has been passionate about drawing all her life.
She believes that drawing is a learned skill and that anyone can develop their creativity and accomplish works of art to be proud of if they have the desire.
Annie believes there is a popular misconception that you have to be born with talent to become an artist, but even the great masters required tutelage before becoming proficient in their chosen medium. A desire to learn and the dedication to practice are the most important steps to becoming an artist.
Course Materials
Bring nothing to your first class but a smile, an A3 sketchpad, a 2B pencil, a kneadable eraser and a desire to learn!
As we progress, other materials and mediums will be explored.
