New England Artists Retreat 2024

NEAS invites members to join together for our annual WEEKEND RETREAT at the Lavender Homestead, Kwiambal National Park.

The weekend brings together a small group of like minded people to explore and experience the natural flora and fauna close to the Kwiambal National Park with is stunning views and walks. Kwiambal National Park is a secluded reserve North of Inverell offering swimming, scenic picnic opportunities. Pronounced Kigh-am-bal, Kwiambal National Park is a quiet achiever. Tucked away near the NSW-Queensland border, its isolation is also its attraction: come for the nature, stay for the privacy.  The rivers are a prime attraction, offering plunge pools, beaches, and scenic waterfalls best seen from one of the several lookouts scattered around the park. Walking trails thread through cool forest and are scaled for many levels of fitness.

Lavendar Homestead is located centrally.  The retreat begins on the afternoon of Friday 6 September and continues through till after breakfast on Monday 9 September. The retreat will be self catered yet shared staples will be purchased and covered by the fee, however, participants will need to provide any specialised food.  Participants will also need to supply there own sleeping linen, a favourite pillow and other comforts.

We invite you to bring along a current work to either work on whilst at the retreat and to use as an example for a group show & tell on the Saturday evening. Bring your camera, art supplies or just a notebook to capture and record. You will need to because, as has happened in the past your memories and images captured during the retreat will evolve into an exhibition in 2025 at the Armidale Art Gallery.

Costs have been kept as low as possible to $270 or $240 for NEAS members.

Bookings: Please call the Gallery to reserve your place (there is a max. of 12) with a payment of $100.
The balance will be required by 1st August 2024.
