Terry Cooke
“Ten by Ten” is an exhibition of exploration and imaginings by Terry Cooke of our high country landscapes presented as a series of framed 10 x 10 cm images.
Drawn in Terry’s signature style he combines his pen and ink artwork with local, digitally captured, texture and colour to enhance atmosphere and create a sense of place and time.
Terry’s artistic interpretations and imaginings of the local scenery are many and varied ranging through what might have been, what is and on to what might be.
A retired land surveyor and information technology manager, Terry photographs and draws the landscapes and people of the New England High Country.
He has published five books of his photography and has held several exhibitions of both his photography and drawings.
Terry’s exhibition in 2020, “Seven Billion Blind Mice”, of environmentally themed drawings at the Armidale Art Gallery was followed in November 2022 by his very successful “Drawing the Line” exhibition, a collection of drawings of imagined local landscapes.
Terry published a book of his drawings in late 2023.
For the last 20 years Terry has photographed the Armidale Drama and Musical Society’s musicals and plays with many of his photographs on display at the Armidale Playhouse Theatre.
He also photographs various sporting events including the Duval Dam Buster Trail Run.
