Linda Nye: A Crows Journey to Broken Hill – mixed media – oil, acrylic gel medium, oil pastel on canvas
Judges Comment: The use of warm and cool colours with subtle and intense section commands attention. The design is terrific and the use of the different mediums in various parts compels the viewer to look closer.

David Davies Impressionist Painting

Peter Champion: Sudden Storm at North Head – oil on canvas
Judges Comment: This reminds us of the works of Monet, one of the great impressionists.

First Prize: Annie Washington – Ironbarks, West of Tenterfield – acrylic on board
Judges Comment: Excellent use of the medium for maximum benefit

Second Prize: Anna Henderson – Brigalow – mixed media on canvas
Judges Comment:The limited colour palette and layers of texture are very appealing

Third Prize: Shirley Tier – Sandscape – acrylic collage on canvas
Judges Comment: The islands of colour linked with texture and calligraphy bits are only part of the complex layering of this piece

HC: Matilda Farr: Turnip – oil on masonite
Judges Comment: A truly sweet little painting with its warm ground colour showing through the confident thick brush strokes

Daphne Young Works on Paper

First: Phoebe Hillard: Studio – pastel on paper
Judges Comment: The unusual viewpoint and design is very appealing, and the use of the medium is exceptional

Second: James White: Flora – watercolour
Judges Comment: Amazing use of the medium with so many difficult elements

Third: Nola.Sindel: Love of Leaves II – coloured pencil
Judges Comment: Again, the control and skillful use of the medium has created this beautiful painting of not only the subject but of the light

HC: Philippa Charley-Briggs: Binalong Bay, Tasmania – pastel on paper
Judges Comment: A great little piece with a powerful yet harmonious design

Judges Comment: It’s all about the light

First Prize: Mic Eales: Beyond Long Gully Road – ceramic; pit fired
Judges Comment: Interesting, well-crafted and displayed with good design. Good use of the title of the work, thought provoking.

Second Prize: Liz Powell – Life Cycles concertina book: watercolour, digital printing tunnel
Judges Comment: A beautiful, intriguing and engaging work. Lots of layers to explore.

HC: Kathie Holmes: The Memory of Trees – concertina book: paper, chipboard, textiles, fibres, metal, acrylic paint
Well thought out to create interest in every little individual artwork to become a very appealing book.
