A presentation of twelve paintings depicting the evolution of humanity in accordance with RUDOLF STEINER’S WORLD VIEW.
In producing these paintings my aim was to present an overview of Rudolf Steiner’s description of our evolution so the viewer could step back and perceive the whole flow of that evolution and see where we now stand in that panorama.
I have omitted details that would be easy to insert but would only tend to cloud the images. My approach has been to keep the presentation simple and uncluttered.
In works of this genre, it would be easy to resort to the use of symbolism. Symbols can be either a stepping stone or a brick wall and can create more confusion than clarity as the viewer needs to be familiar to some extent with the meaning of the symbols to understand them.
There is one symbol only to be found in the paintings which was unavoidable and which I offer to the viewer to decipher.
Studying the human condition takes us into the head, our thinking. Seeing the human condition in a visual form can sometimes bring these head ideas into perspective. I hope this works for you the viewer.
The exhibition is not an end in itself. It is intended to whet the appetite of the viewer to encourage further studies in specific aspects of human evolution and to delve into the details that visual art is unable to offer. Many works by Rudolf Steiner are readily available to achieve such a purpose.
